THE FLENSBURG POINTS SYSTEM

How you end up facing a points-related MPU.

The Fahreignungs-Bewertungssystem (driving fitness rating system) issues warnings in stages. Ignore them and you'll reach eight points, meaning loss of your licence and the MPU.

4–5
points

Formal warning

From four points you receive a written warning. A voluntary Fahreignungsseminar can still remove one point at this stage.

6–7
points

Formal caution

From six points comes the paid formal caution: the last clear warning before losing your licence. Reducing points is no longer possible at this stage.

8
points

Licence withdrawal + MPU

At eight points your licence is withdrawn. You can only get it back after the waiting period with a positive assessment report.

Got a letter from the Führerscheinstelle? The waiting period is a good time to prepare for the MPU, not to simply wait it out. Those who use the time go into the assessment with confidence instead of under pressure.

THE CRUCIAL SHIFT IN PERSPECTIVE

What it's really about.

Most people underestimate what the assessor wants to see. And that's exactly where many fail on their first attempt. The difference between failing and getting a positive assessment report lies in perspective.

What many people think

"I just had bad luck: a few too many violations. Others drive the same way and just don't get caught."

MISTAKE 1
Dismissing your own violations as coincidence or bad luck.
MISTAKE 2
Comparing yourself to others instead of looking at your own pattern.
MISTAKE 3
Mere statements of intent: "I'll be more careful in future."
The assessor sees through this attitude immediately. And it's the most common reason for failing.
THE PATH TO A POSITIVE ASSESSMENT REPORT

What the assessor looks at

It's not the individual violation that counts, but the pattern behind it, and whether you've truly understood and changed it.

RECOGNISE THE PATTERN
Why did the violations keep happening? What mindset was behind them?
CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE
A genuine inner shift, not just more cautious driving out of fear of punishment.
MAKE IT PROVABLE
Concrete, lived changes in everyday life that make your new attitude comprehensible.
This is exactly where we come in: we help you honestly understand your pattern and tell the story of your change credibly.
Not sure how to make your change credible?

That's exactly the task we support you with. In the free consultation, we'll look at your violations together and find the common thread that convinces the assessor.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE INTERVIEW

These are the questions the assessor asks.

Gutachter fragt

Why did violations keep happening?

The assessor is looking for the pattern, not an excuse. We work out what mindset was behind the repeated violations.

Gutachter fragt

What mattered more to you in the moment than the rule?

Time pressure, habit, the thrill? An honest answer to this question is key. We prepare it with you.

Gutachter fragt

What has concretely changed in your driving behaviour?

What counts here isn't intentions but lived changes. We make your transformation tangible with concrete examples.

Gutachter fragt

How do you drive differently today than before?

The assessor wants to hear specifics, not clichés. We practise describing your new attitude credibly and comprehensibly.

Points-related MPU: everything you need to know now

The MPU for points applies once you've accumulated eight points in the Fahreignungsregister in Flensburg. Unlike with alcohol or drugs, this isn't about abstinence, but about repeated traffic violations, and about whether you've permanently changed your behaviour.

From how many points does the MPU apply?

The Fahreignungs-Bewertungssystem issues warnings in stages: from 4 points comes a formal warning, from 6 points a paid formal caution, and at 8 points your licence is withdrawn. You can only get it back after the waiting period if you get a positive assessment report on the MPU.

Do I need to be abstinent for the points-related MPU?

No. For the points-related MPU there's no proof of abstinence and no lab test. The focus is on your change in attitude and behaviour: the assessor wants to understand why violations kept happening, and whether you'll reliably follow the rules going forward. That's why preparation here is often shorter than in alcohol or drug cases.

Does the MPU remove my points?

No. The MPU doesn't delete points and doesn't shorten the waiting period: these are two separate things. A Fahreignungsseminar can remove one point earlier, but only up to a total of five points. Once your licence has been withdrawn, the only way back is a positive assessment report on the MPU.

Why professional preparation is decisive

Without preparation, official statistics show only around 37% get a positive assessment report on the MPU. With structured 1:1 preparation, ON-MPU's pass rate is over 94%. The most common reason for failing in points cases is a dismissive attitude. That's exactly what we work on with you, until your change is credible and solid. See how our MPU preparation works →

No: there's no proof of abstinence and no lab test. What counts is solely your credibly demonstrated change in attitude and behaviour in traffic.
