Do I really have to take the alcohol MPU?
The Führerscheinstelle orders the MPU for alcohol mainly in three situations. If you recognise yourself in one of them, there's hardly any way around thorough preparation.
High blood alcohol level
From 1,6 ‰ blood alcohol, the MPU is ordered in practically every case, regardless of whether it was your first offence. Such a high level points to increased alcohol tolerance.
Medium level with signs of impairment
The MPU can already follow from 1,1 ‰ if additional signs of impairment are documented, such as driving errors, an accident, or conspicuous behaviour during the stop.
Repeated drink driving
Two or more alcohol-related driving offences lead to an MPU, even at lower levels. The authority sees this as a pattern that needs to be addressed.

Is an alcohol MPU possible without abstinence?
Yes, in many cases. If it was a one-off offence, your blood alcohol level wasn't extremely high, and there are no signs of dependency, the path of controlled drinking may be enough, then you don't need months of proof of abstinence. Whether this applies to you always has to be checked individually. That's exactly what we clarify in your free consultation.
From what blood alcohol level do I have to take the MPU?
From 1,6 ‰, the MPU is ordered in practically every case. It can already follow from 1,1 ‰ if signs of impairment such as driving errors or an accident are documented. In cases of repeated alcohol-related driving offences, the level becomes secondary, then the pattern is what counts.
How long do I have to prove abstinence?
If abstinence is required: usually 6 to 12 months, continuously documented through EtG hair analyses or urine screenings at a recognised laboratory. We support you with the lab, appointments, and deadlines, so the proof holds up later.
